At speeds above 4800 baud, it seems like the computer can't keep up. I see the stuff come in, but the lines break, I lose data, and above 9600, I get nothing but garbage. Any suggestions? Another thing I can't find is a setting in NovaTerm for 14.4. Do I set it for 28.8? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Kind of dense stuff though, eh? :) Hard to root through it to find out something. I guess what I need to do is find some selection in the config file that refers to the modem speed, is that right? Well, that's the part I was trying to quote. You need to run the config.edit program, and look for the settings for the Swiftlink device. (The config file cannot be edited by hand; it's a binary.) I don't remember which device the SL is by default, but it's the one that has "0-device driver type" set to "6". Then you need to set the other things for that device: 1 device primary address (SwiftLink: I/O page of hardware) This is the IO page, normally set to "$de". 2 device secondary address (SwiftLink: size of receive buffer in pages) This is the size of the receive buffer. I set this to 4, meaning a buffer of 1024 bytes; if you are low on memory, leave it at 1. 3 flags This is the main one you're concerned about. It's a bitfield, as follows: 7-parity 0=8N1 1=7E1 6-crystal 0=normal 1=hacked for 115.2K 5-unused 4-unused 3--------| 2--------|---DTE speed, see ACE15.DOC for chart 1--------| 0--------| I have this byte on mine set to "$0d", for 8N1 parity, normal clock speed, and 38400bps DTE speed. Another question I'd REALLY like to figure out is how to get ACE to load some files into RAMdisk automatically on bootup. Someone told me it can be done, but how do you do this? Create/modify the file ".ashrc". This file is run on startup, as a shell script. Here's mine as an example: --------------sample .ashrc-------------- # This shell script executes when the system starts up. # Put all of the instructions that you want to execute at that time in here. # A good thing to do here is to copy the command shell to a ramdisk, if you # have enough memory. Uncomment the following to do this: cd a: echo "Copying the shell to ramdisk z:" cp -f sh,p z: echo "Copying oft-used utils to ramdisk" cp -f cp z mv term rm date fx mem more grep wc tr z: echo cd m: --------------end sample------------------ Most of that is the default that ACE15 had included.
