GREETINGS!

ANYONE OUT THERE HAPPEN TO KNOW THE NUMBER FOR THE WESTCHESTER
PARTS DEPARTMENT? THE KEYBOARD ON MY SX-64 DIED WITHOUT
WARNING. RIGHT NOW I'M ON A GLASS TTY SO THAT'S WHY THE UPPER
CASE.

ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

Are you sure its the SX's keyboard, all the time?   during RS-232
on an SX...if you EVER hit the RESTORE key, its all dead, a power down
and reboot fixes it.  To avoid it all when you need your SX a lot
for telecommunications....just remove the spring under the RESTORE key.
  
      ::grin::   I hope this is the real problem with the SX for your sake!

Is this a generally known piece of info amongst SX owners?

I have _no_ idea if its generally known, but the fix has been around for
about 2 years.  Everytime someone says 'I need a new SX, the keyboard is
dead' or 'Something is wrong with my SX, could it be heat related, the
keyboard locks up...' etc, I think of this lil goodie!  at least 2/3rds of
the time it *is* the problem.  Commodore tweaked the keyscan routines,
just a tad in the SX, and in powerful terminal software, its pushing the
lil 64 to the limit already, the small difference shows up the first time
you hit the RESTORE key.  VERY annoying, I assure you.

 Yup...I have had the spring out of my SX for over 2 years and don't have
the keyboard problem. It is real easy to do, as the keys are simply snapped in.
