ACCOLADE SHIPS `PROJECT: SPACE STATION' LAS VEGAS, NV, November 2, 1987 -- Accolade, Inc. today announced the release of "Project: Space Station," its latest Advantage product, here at the Fall 1987 COMDEX Show. The product is avilable for the IBM PC, Commodore 64/128 and Apple II series at a suggested retail price of $14.95. "Project: Space Station" is a strategically oriented simulation of the NASA Space Station project. The player assumes the role of project commander and is responsible for its implementation and success. The object of the game is to build a space station and operate it profitably for as long as possible. At the beginning of the project, the player has two Space Shuttles and $10 billion available for designing, building, operating and managing the space station. After the station has been designed and a plan of operation established, the building project can begin. Typical tasks include performing extra vehicular activities, landing the shuttle, and research and development projects. During the building process, unforeseen opportunities and obstacles occur. Each project is unique and is based on the player`s design and management decisions while executing the construction of the space station. Research and development projects are crucial to the profitability and continued success of the station. There are 40 research and development projects in 9 categories from which to choose. The aim of these projects is to discover new products and services for earth that can be converted into cash to maintain the space station as long as possible. The player has to select the proper equipment and crew for each shuttle flight to suit the research and development project. Crews have personalities and the player must choose people that work well together. Once the selection of crew and materials has taken place, the player has to lauch and pilot the space shuttle to the space station. If the craft drifts off course, the payload will be scattered causing delays and possible budget overruns. After the shuttle arrives at its destination, the task of assembling the space station begins. If the design is efficient, then assemble time of the project will be minimal allowing the player to return to earth, land the shuttle and schedule more flights. Designed by Larry Holland, "Project: Space Station" is currently available for the IBMPC/compatibles, Apple II series and Commodore 64/128 at a suggested retail price of $14.95.
