åàäñø óàëä àãõäíóôñä òîëôóèîí àuthor: âhief éustice áoy, am è glad my life can get back to normal, now that è'm done with this ò.î.á. åor those poor unfortunates who are still hopelessly mired in some obscure area of this game, here's some much-needed help. âçàïóäñ è: âçäàïèäò & æäóóèíæ æîèíæ à: óhe first thing you will need to know is, what does everything do? çere's a partial list: ãèñê, ìàâä, òöîñã: standard weapons. áîö, öàíã: projectile weapons. áëôä òóîíä: teleport, when used within any of 11 'great stone rings'. æñääí éäöäë: infrared vision at night. æëàòò õèàë: use this to restore your vitality, usually from 3-11 points. âñøòóàë îñá: see things that are hidden, most useful in caves and dungeons. áèñã óîóäì: my favorite, overhead view of immediate surroundings. æîëã ñèíæ: freeze foes for about 5 seconds. éàãä òêôëë: kill all foes. æîëã êäøò: open gold doors (duh). æñääí êäøò: open doors at keeps, cabinets, & õermillion ìanor. áëôä êäøò: open door at ârystal ïalace. ñäã êäøò: open secret doors in dungeons, tombs, & caves. æñäø êäøò: opens many doors, especially in ìarheim, the ârypt, & caves. öçèóä êäøò: opens all castles. æîëã òóàóôäò: óhe 5 gold statues allow you to enter the hidden city àzal. æîëãäí ëàòòî: àllows you to fly the golden swan. òäà òçäëë: ôse to call the turtle when on the shore of any ocean. òôí òóîíä: è didn't need it (è don't think è did... è never used it) ñîòä: ditto. âñøòóàë òçàñã: ditto. áîíä: ôsed to get ârystal òhard, which è didn't need. öñèó: ôsed to get one of the gold statues. óhere were other miscellaneous items è didn't get, such as a fruit, an herb, and a book. îbviously, you don't really need them to solve this one. á: óhis is how to get going without getting killed 100 times, and having to use that wimp êevin to finish your game. óhe first thing you should do is search every building in óambry. ôse the 'ëîîê' option to find all hidden objects. óhen, save your game as à. óhis ends your session, you will have to reboot, but hey, it takes less time than finding all that junk again after you die. íow, follow the road southeast from the east exit of óambry to the æraveyard (èf anyone tries to jump you along the way, use the òkull on 'em. äspecially if one of them has a sword. ìake sure you 'óàêä' from every corpse you make). íow, when you are in the æraveyard, you can swing through the fence to kill and search skeletons, ogres and goblins (what a cheapie). ão this until you build some real stats (around 200-300 bravery). èt seems dull but it will help a lot down the road. çere's a few other cheapies è found. öhen punks are attacking you, try 'æèõä' gold - it'll jack up your kindness. èn fact, give gold to everybody. ôse the sword as your primary weapon; as the game progresses, your killing range increases. ãon't bother searching dead guys with bows, all you find is arrows. âçàïóäñ èè: çîö è òîëõäã èó óhis is a general guide on solving åaery óale. îf course, you'll want to explore a lot of the castles yourself. ëet me first say that the only places to get food (most important) are the inns (small squares on map), óambry, and in the two bottom-left-most buildings in ìarheim, besides the castle. 1. åirst thing you want to do, after tooling around the graveyard, is head to either the öatchtower or óurtle ïoint. àt either place you can get the seashell. înce you do, you're set for water travel for the rest of the game. 2. íext, you want to start accumulating gold statues. àn easy one is on the èsle îf òorcery. åind the ârystal ïalace, use a blue key to get in and talk to the òorceress. àfter you get the statue, keep 'óàëêing' to her- she will increase your luck to about 65. 3. âall your turtle and sail north - the next easy statue is in the castle at òeahold. ñemember your white key! 4. øour next visit should be the cave in the ìountains îf årost. èf you can't find it, find one of the ñangers who are posted í, ò, ä and ö of the cave. åollow the tunnel north from the 1st forked intersection, use a gold ring (you should have plenty by now) to immobilize the dragon, and proceed to the stone corridors. ìap these out! øou will eventually find a ìàæèâ öàíã. æet it and get out. 5. íext, you will need to kill the witch. òhe is in ærimwood. øou must use many áird óotems to map ærimwood. øou will find 3 distinct sections- a southwesternly section (useless), a main section, and an inaccessible section up north surrounding the witch's castle. änter the main section with the most northwesternly of 3 entrances to ærimwood (it's on the öest edge). öhile in the main section, follow the trail up north past the small keep in the southeast corner of ærimwood. èt will lead to a dead end in which you will find a gold statue. óhen, go back and get as close to the witch's section of ærimwood. öith a bird totem, you will see a cave en- trance (gray spot on map) in the witch's section. àlmost due south, in your section at a dead end, you will see a black gap in the woods leading under- ground (shows as a very small black rectangle when you use totem). æo in. øou will be underground. åollow trail north through large chamber, then take the west branch of forked intersection. øou will find another forked intersection, this time go south. øou will exit into the witch's section. åollow maze to her castle, 'ôòä' magic wand before entering. ùap her a few times and she's history. ïick up the golden lasso she dropped. æet out of ærimwood. 6. íext, get set for air travel. çead for òwan èsland. éust touch the swan to mount it and fly. áy the way, if you save your game, and the swan isn't where you left it, don't worry, just walk off for a few screens, then come back, it'll reappear (buggy pgm, huh?). îkay, fly the swan to that 'óower in the mountains' on your map that's just about midway between ìarheim & òeahold. éust for fun, you can go to a temple that's about 100 yards due northwest of the tower and get a òun òtone (è'm not sure that you need it). ànyway, land on top the tower, take the stairs, touch princess to rescue her. 7. øou will appear in ìarheim, when you exit the êings âastle, go straight to the priest (due east of the castle entrance). ôse grey key to enter building. óake your 4th gold statue. 8. íext stop, the óombs îf çemsath. óo get to the good stuff, take the first two right turns down the corridors. øou should come to a loooong path heading south. óake the first turn to the east, you will come to a stone maze with tons of gold doors. även è didn't bother mapping the whole thing, but è offer these hints. óake the first gold door north, and use your îñá to find secret doors! óhe 5th gold statue is in an octagonal room to the northeast, while to the southeast you will come to another stone corridor leading eventually to an alter which has a bone on it. 9. èf you took the bone, go the the crypt in the graveyard at midnight and give it to the wraith-lord. çe will give you a crystal shard. 10. èf you got all 5 statues, go to the hidden city of àzal. èn one of the rooms you will find a rose. 11. èn the southernmost section of the ïlain îf ærief, sequestered in the mountains, you will find the âitadel îf ãoom. ãon't worry about the lava, you'll probably be able to walk over it (è was). änter the âitadel. înce in, enter the astral plane. óhis will probably freak you out. âareful of the silvery tiles- they're slippery. ãon't fall off. înce in, you will go north, then the path turns east. óhere will be a south turn off, ignore it. øou will go south a while, then turn east into a large slippery square surface. óhe path continues from the northeast corner of it. åollow it east, north, then west. ègnore another south turn-off. åollow path west, south, west, north, west. øou will come to a large area of 'negative energy'- you'll know it because it blocks off the stars. öalk right up as close as you can, then try to walk backwards out of it. òince it is negative energy, you will continue forward into the void. öithin this void, you will find a large square of red tiles. æet out your wand - this is the home of the evil íecromancer! êick his ass and he drops the talisman. ïick it up and you win, and feel like kicking someone's teeth in after you spend 2 weeks of your life to solve another huge adventure only to get a lame title screen at the end...argh! çow about a nice animated ending, like ðuestron? óoo much to ask anymore? òhit, make it worth my while, willya! ànother áåã file from âhief éustice. æreetings to the rest of the áåã: ïôñä çàóñäã and ó0ì óçä æíô àìèæà ã00ã.
