********** Topic 9 Wed Sep 17, 1986 B.E.MILLS at 00:48 CDT Sub: FASTLOAD BUGS If you have questions or answers about EPYX's Fastload cartidge, by all means, stop in and chat a while. 9 message(s) total ********** ---------- Category 3, Topic 9 Message 1 Wed Sep 17, 1986 B.E.MILLS at 00:55 CDT Does anyone else have these problems with Fastload? 1) After exended use, the cart seems to overheat and performs erratically or not at all. 2) The sector editor defaults to track 18, sector *2*!!! Intresting choice of defaults, eh? 3) Returning to BASIC from the functions menu, sometimes leaves 'B' on your screen. 4) Is there an undocumented command in the M/L monitor to redirect output to the printer? 5) Have any of these bugs been fixed in later releases and, if so, how much will it cost to upgrade? ---------- Category 3, Topic 9 Message 2 Wed Sep 17, 1986 SURVIVOR [S. Gutknecht] at 20:54 EDT I was one of de first to get FASTLOAD in el world! And they have only had one update since I got it... and that was soon after release.... (((((this is MY knowledge, and does not mean that there might not be a update that I do not know about!))))) The bug that made me really dislike FASTLOAD was that if you SAVE (or "_") or write to the disk, it tends to ruin your directory...... not a pretty sight. WHEN will one of the ""speedloaders"" have TRUE to LIVE speeds on the package... MACH 128 says that it ""loads and saves 500% faster"", then what... a DATASET!! I also thought of another thing- What call is Activision making in their loader programs that give you a 'NO CHANNEL' error with FASTLOAD enabled? I've checked it out and can't find where it's happening. -Bob- ---------- Category 3, Topic 9 Message 4 Thu Sep 18, 1986 DEB [*deb!*] at 00:03 EDT Not me...*I* never used FASTLOAD,QUICKLOAD,FLASH!,etc. The compatibility bugs drove me nuts the first time I saw one, figured a coupla minutes was just not worth the aggravation...! *deb!* ---------- Category 3, Topic 9 Message 5 Thu Sep 18, 1986 B.E.MILLS at 00:35 CDT Well, Fastload IS handy for quick sector editing, directories etc.. And it does measurably shorten loading times. For most programs. -Bob- ---------- Category 3, Topic 9 Message 6 Thu Sep 18, 1986 TIGLON.G [Tiggy][SysOp] at 05:50 EDT Out of the three Fastload carts I had, not ONE of those puppies ever operated correctly! I gave up..and sent them back..one by one! I'd rather go out for a coke while something is loading! --* Tiggy
