Sub: Minutes of your RT Conference with Chris Smeets April 23, 1987 Attendees: [TIGLON.G] [[KeS] KEVIN.S] [[Chris] C.SMEETS] Minutes: Which ARC will be ready soon? Just for the 128 for now. Then I'll start on a 64 update Compatible 64-128 wise I mean? IE: will a 128 arc unarc on the 64 ARC...etc Yes...they're 100% compatible  Well I am sure you have made all the C128 owners horribly happy <[KeS] KEVIN.S> Or create a 64 ARC with the 128 program... will it warn you if you go over the size limit, etc. 40 or 80 cols? <[KeS] KEVIN.S> I'm soooo happy! 40 works, but 80 is better Since when KeS? Only on SDA's <[KeS] KEVIN.S> (1541 size) Ohho I ARC on the hard drive... what do I care  Which hard drive? Lt. Kernal, and a 9090 it will also work on the SFD 1001 ahh...how fast is ARC with the LT kernel? and the MSD for that matter Well, the Lt. Kernal is not the fastest hard drive out..but it makes a LOT of difference... bout 40 % decrease in time as fast as the program can go..the drive will handle it! soo nice I kinda expectedmmore than that? Ive never timed it..I should huh! I've never timed it either there also isnt that REL file problem as with a 1541/71 I found out about that REL problem only recently Its not a big deal, just have to turn off the drive before you DEARC I use the 4040 most of the time and rarely use REL files ARC wont work on USR files either eh? But I fixed it in the 128 version USR....that all depends on how "abnormal" they are about as abnormal as they can get..ie: GEOS files  Since a USR file I never use GEOS... Ah But I've seen some GEOS to SEQ file converters around Sure! But they are a pain... ehehe <[KeS] KEVIN.S> Yes, but that is an annoying process. You have to copy files, convert them, copy them again, convert them over ..etc THEN you can ARC or whatever you wanna do to them <[KeS] KEVIN.S> ...swapping disks/drives all the while. about 3 steps too many I can look into it, but its not a priority. I dislike non-standard things. I dont blame you..it is just a pet peeve of mine..thats all <-- probably the only one If I had to compensate for every program's pecuuliarities I'd never get anything done. True!! True! :shutting up now: Well, we can let you get back to your files..or whatever you were doing <[KeS] KEVIN.S> Any questions/comments/etc, just holler! Unless you need a question answered !? OK...I'm just familiarizing myself with things. And we are as close as mail!! <[KeS] KEVIN.S> (bitches, moans, complains...) As Chris told us, the 128 ARC version would be out in a matter of days. the documentation will be for paid registered users. Send in those donations folks!!
