look for a program called "ser64_80.zip". You can find it on
nic.funet.fi under the directory transfer/CBM-to-PC/
It is quite buggy, but it works

Hello,
I have a broke C128D with a working 1571. Now I want to connect
the floppy drive to a working C128. My problem is, that I
doesn't know how to build a serial port for the 1571.
has anybody some information ?

I don't know about the internal tape on some PETs. Externals probably should
work; maybe you'll need some ASCI -> PETSCI conversion ...
How about your PET's userport? Does it like a connection to your C-64?
Also, IEEE<->IEC interfaces seem to exist for both C-64 and 1541. So there
should be ways of connecting drives ...

Nick did include a configuration file in 9.6 where you can, among other
things, set up the number of disk drives you have.

I think Thomas Karlson posted recently about supplying a list of UK
companies that still supplied for the 64. I lost the posting but am
interested in finding out more about them. Reply directly to my e-address to
rather than the group.
Also, if anyone else knows where I can get a 1581 at a reasonable price in
the UK (new or 2nd hand), or better still a decent hard drive (maybe CMD?)
then please e-me. I don't s'pose CMD have a UK outlet for their stuff?
Cheers,

My PET doesn't have an internal tapedrive. As the matter affect, I use the
same tapedrive for both PET and C64. However, the PET seems to have problems
reading the C64 tapes ( I can't even transfer data bytewise. The PET reads
the file header, but that's about it.). I *do* have a scheme how to turn
my 1541 into a 2031 (== IEEE port), but that hack requires an EPROMmer, wich
I haven't got...
About that Userport-solution : I have been working on something like that,
but, due to lack of time, I canceled the project a bit (BASIC was too slow,
and in order to use ML, I need to transfer data from my C64 to my PET (sigh!)
(Kip-Ei situatie etc.) )

Yes Virgina there is a California Games II. There was a preview of it
in
one of the last Commodore Magazines (Aug. 89). Whether it actually made it
to
stores, I am not sure. Tenex listed it for only a short while and that was
about the only place I remember seeing it. I believe it was actually
called
Cal Games II though.

Not sure if was actually released, but it did get quite a few reviews,
and
advertisements. I almost ordered it back in those days, but hey. I

Hmm. I played The Games: series on a buddy's machine back in the

Anyone know if it's possible to connect a US Robotics 14400 fax/modem to the
C64? If so, do I need anything else in between to amke it work?
Is there any NET software at any site that I can go fetch that will allow me
to access web sites and send and receive mail?
Sorry if this is in the FAQ, I will check there when I next get chance. In
the meantime....
Cheers,

The problem is not that the formats are different, but rather the
IBM's floppy drives ?can't? be programmed to read alternate formats.
The 1571/81 CAN be modified to read/write PC disks, since they
aren't _dumb_ devices like PC floppies. They are computers in their
own right.
You can either get the x1541 cable thing, or use the 64 to read/write
the PC formatted disks itself. (This is the route I've been using.)
That is, if you HAVE a 1571 you can hook up, why not just hook it up
to the 64.

Though I've never done it, it should work fine. The two computers use
the same two voltage sources, namely 5 volts DC and 9 volts AC. The
128 supply uses a "switcher" for the 5 volts, and so is more efficient
(doesn't get as hot as the old analog C64 black brick), and can handle
a heavier load.

No. Simple as that. The only possible way for using those .d64 files is
using a C-64 Emu.

sure, it's caused by some lame cartridges like Action Replays.
just do a normal reset (g fce2) and run it again, it will work for sure if
yer code is written well.

Checkout ftp.funet.fi. They have quite a lot software for the good-old

haven't figured out how to manage THAT...
