This is the pinout for the video connector on the VIC20. Please note it's NOT the same pinout as for the C64: ___ ___ / v \ / \ 1 =3D +6V, 10mA | 3 1 | 2 =3D GND | | 3 =3D Audio Out | 5 4 | 4 =3D Video Low \ 2 / 5 =3D Video High \_______/ I can't recall whether you use Video Low or Video High for the video signal, but I think it you are supposed to use Video Low. So, you need a 5-pin DIN connector, a cable with at least two wires plus ground and two RCA jacks or what connector your TV/monitor has. Simply connect one wire to Video Low in one end and a RCA jack in the other. Connect the ground to the RCA jack where it should be. Do the same for the audio signal. It may help if you have an old cable with a complete DIN connector attached already. The 6526? No, that's the CIA. Uh, I forget which number it is... I can do better than that... I have the original Commodore service manual. I don't like Sams for this stuff. Too many mistakes. It was great for TV repair in the tube days, but like everything else, they went downhill. The PLA chip is marked as UE4 on the CPU PC board. It probably has a heat sink glued to it... it normally runs hot, which is why if fails... the temperature cycles and fatigues the tiny structures of the chip. Anyway, there could be one of several numbers on the PLA: 906114-01, 7700-001, 82S100PLA, and 93459DC. As far as I know, they are all the same and are interchangeable with the same part in the C64. > Also, if you have a logic chart, I'd appreciate the logic values for th= e > PLA chip. I do have the necessary materials, i.e., a multi-meter, logic > probe, etc. Sorry, I don't. The easiest way to troubleshoot is to test each chip in a good board. I have an old C64 with all the main chips socketed, and I use it for test purposes. That way, if I have more than one bad chip in a dead computer, I will not accidently put a bad chip back in. So far, most chips for the C64 are still available. Let me know if you need more info. Good hunting! Ray Carlsen CARLSEN ELECTRONICS... Try setting the switches=20 either all up or all down and try device to use device 11. Once you=20 find it as device 11, it should be easy to reconfigure as device 9 from=20 the table above. Funny how proud you folks are about > ripping people off and going to jail. >=20 > > Do you really think I care that "we" make you sick? >=20 > Of course you do, or you wouldn't do it in the first place. :) >=20 > > Yea, I'm loosing sleep over it... Please, please forgive me- I'll nev= er > do it again... >=20 > We already know you have no consious or morality. I guess thats one > more thing to be proud of. Oh well, you may grow up one day, doesn't l= ook > like anytime soon however. OK...Now my point of view. Software is ours for the taking. And sharing= . I see no=20 point in doodling while some other person gets to stuff his pocket with d= ough(although=20 I'd love to trade him places, but then all you guys would hate me, and I'= d probably hate=20 myself) If you want to pay money for a product, then go ahead. If you = want to make a=20 copy of something, go ahead. Just don't sell it. Leave that to the oth= er guy. And=20 don't go making a copy to every living soul alive, because well...you kno= w. It's sort=20 of like...well in the US, you can(it's legal now!) take a movie and copy = it, just it's=20 for home use, you know? Remember when this whole chain originated with a= guy wanting to=20 get a new dongle so that he could continue his work, when he lost his fir= st? Now we'll discuss the hacker ethic. I was one of the 70s originals. We = believed that=20 we shouldn't have to pay to get what was ours, our software. We made it,= we changed it,=20 we walked on top of it if we had to. We believed in the free flow of inf= ormation. When=20 people started charging mey for stuff, that wasn't even the quality of = the stuff we=20 were putting out for free, we were pid(and flat broke) So we chang= ed their=20 version until it was perfect, and passed it on. You might almost think t= he companies=20 would be grateful. I said 'almost think'. In 1983 I got slapped for $10= ,000 dollars=20 for doing this, and it probably ruined my life(I seem to be doing fine no= w, but what=20 would my life be like?(I wonder if I'd be married yet)). Anyway you'r= e probably=20 wondering where this is going. I don't know either, pass the coffee. --=20 Colin Guillas http://www.ncf.carleton.ca/~ag090 http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Park/1603 So what does the Maytag man do in his spare time? >Plays with his C=3D64 of course :-) (THX Jack) Was Sally really Harry? How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? It all boils down to: WHO THE HELL CARES? (Well...maybe Sally's boy fri= end...) --------------67852F401A95 Content-Type: image/gif; name=3D"RIB_BAR_.GIF" Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 Content-Disposition: inline; filename=3D"RIB_BAR_.GIF" R0lGODdhjwAeALMAAP///8DAwICAgAAA/wAAgDA1YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAACwAAAAAjwAeAAME+xDISau9OOvNu/+gN4xhaZ5omo6s6r5w3A0TQct4roekNBAn gcEgEBQEpsCxUHAVDBllsRDABAxNY65wE/xuoWsTEECWoJJx6mk1VAHCDJZsltkkBBuwJCZL hldVV2iDFH1+ZQFlE4kSjRJFaW4CbxNDFHNFj5lImpF/aDwsI3d8WJdwQ0NxbgBQRBRPRIJY SlCsiq9IR3FPtoZzllC+vq5NbEJFsGyhH6M2P0m1aEK0sk2qzXCyZLBXQlRExERui8itjsGg AOdVc+3frqolLNA9YXNv1X9qrhaVyeJ9q6XIl6J9klJVMobp2K1W7x7mQgIrCakW0vohZOOH +xAjNVTiVeNYptXECe0oINyXMqLCeOrojQITQkizJ2ZsUWI36yMvJGL26awSMNUReTorSDny BhBOeVBxgut2lJ69HSjiYd0qYtRCrh20gh377xlNshrK1EGL1uyAr2zjyi1bD6MFm8nWfRik TJ/DChxPSJmSQ4vMmSPgUk21SxsHVCQ7aQtcIk66HIvCeJ15oQ/LW0B30rEAGaLET75EK6RD SfViRpA+eepkZvYETbEdUSJK2wLnAF7/rap4rtsuZRUuaT2nzKEyiq/chWuWt0IkWMkCZsqG 7U+V4tufGwoOgLPS8DxTGQ9aEdQTkBLVc2T2/RU26u1vU8yCzwbWdkjDMJYeG8W5spZ5ZJDH SDCXFPfNg4pg8go6KfWCBn3pzYFKOms5csR/BjJkmWUfNtaNSP3VARwLB45y3hgNSgRTP8J0 c2F8FvLjynfY3GcddQyB6B9/AIa4TH8ApTgBgpAoyJM4MJaDkzdYrDVIfT4WMQVvRuQ0RBOF AGLdT/UZMQwR4BSSTDFVanjmlzw1tySLvrk4150YILSBEUw4ppJdFDCJ56CrPfYGjXWe5Yid hBKqpQeP7vkWBoA2aikOijKS6aWcdurppxREAAA7 --------------67852F401A95--
