I know GEOS has a k-pad input driver and there are k-paint.pad "files" contrast k-paint cartridge so if you find the file, that's all you need.. I was thinking about making (or ripping) the ML routine for the k-pad for some of my own uses but I haven't had the motovation recently... If you have any paddle driven software (like arkinoid) load it up and the k-pad should cause so random input (that's how it works- it=20 translates the x/y movement of the stylus to a linear resistance causing paddles A and B to increase or decrease in value when PEEKed... Also, if any of you are lucky enough to be using a WACOM tablet on your PC/MAC, like me (I love it- never use a mouse again!), the WACOM stylus works 300% better than the origional k-pad stylus. The fact that the computer players never buy or sell in the 12th month would tend to support this theory. Aaron --=20 -------------------------------------------------------- Aaron J. I think Brett's responses covered everything pretty well, but I can't pretend to have his conviction on the COMAL cartridge, since I don't know enough about it. Some cartridges, specifically those which use the 'Ultimax' memory scheme, will not work. And in this case, where a cartridge contains a new operating system, it *MAY* attempt to replace th= e standard Kernal completely, which would mean that it isn't going to know to slow down when necessary for I/O operations. If I had a COMAL cartridg= e anymore, I'd test it. Unfortuneately, I don't, so we'll have to wait unti= l someone who does can try it out or for someone with technical knowledge o= f it to tell us if it does any of the things I mentioned above that could cause failure. Adam Since its the NX1000C that you have, the "C" indicates its commodore compatible version. They also had a NX1000 without the C which is not CBM compatible, so try any of the parint drives such as Commodore, 1525, mp801. Those are all drivers that emulate 1525 printers which were the original CBM compatible printers. I have a 1541 and 1571 ) that need aligned. I don't know how to do it, but if I could find ) information on how to, I could align them myself. Also where can I get ) C64 emulators and other files? The quick and dirty way to align a drive is to write a program that reads various tracks and sectors on the disk repeatedly, and then while the program is running tweak the stepper motor until you get no errors or pauses (red light flashes briefly). The stepper motor is on the underside of the drive mechanism, a large flat cylinder. It has two screws with red paint on them (meaning "don't loosen this screw unless you know what you're doing!"). Loosen them a little and you can move the stepper motor slightly. With this program running you can get it in good alignment. Be sure you're using a disk (such as the Test/Demo disk) that you know to be good. There is a program written by Free Spirit that does a much better job of probing your drive for alignment, using a specially formatted disk. If you can get that, use it; it's much better and more precise than my method above. --Bill. -- William R Ward Bay View Consulting http://www.bayview.com/~her= mit/ hermit@bayview.com 1803 Mission St. #339 voicemail +1 408/479-= 4072 hermit@cats.ucsc.edu Santa Cruz CA 95060 USA pager +1 408/458-= 8862 #! rnews 1638 Path: pravda.aa.msen.com!news1.best.com!news.sgi.com!csulb.edu!info.ucla.= edu!agate!news.ucsc.edu!news.ucsc.edu!hermit From: hermit@cats.UCSC.EDU (William R. Yes, the drive in a 128d is a 1571. The 1541 was the drive sold for the 64, and it is slower and only singlye-sided. The 1571 is double-sided and faster (when used with a 128; it emulates a 1541 when used with a 64). --Bill. -- William R Ward Bay View Consulting http://www.bayview.com/~her= mit/ hermit@bayview.com 1803 Mission St. #339 voicemail +1 408/479-= 4072 hermit@cats.ucsc.edu Santa Cruz CA 95060 USA pager +1 408/458-= 8862 #! rnews 1077 Path: pravda.aa.msen.com!news1.best.com!nntp.primenet.com!news.mathworks.= com!newsfeed.internetmci.com!news-feed.iguide.com!news.delphi.com!usenet From: Donovan Dyer Newsgroups: comp.sys.cbm Subject: Re: dir/editor/fd2000 Date: Fri, 26 Jul 96 18:07:03 -0500 Organization: Delphi (info@delphi.com email, 800-695-4005 voice) Lines: 14 Message-ID: References: = <4t6cc0$m3g@victoria.pe.net> NNTP-Posting-Host: bos1b.delphi.com X-To: bob masse bob masse writes: =20 >: As for lines separating file groups, I've used ----------------- and += +++++++ >: or ############ or whatever came to mind.
