The digital RGBI is equivalent to CGA video on a PC. The analog video, as far as I know, is specific to the Amiga. So your PC with a CGA card should work fine with the 1084. I have been going through all my Commodore stuff that I have collected and have compiled this list of items for sale. The format will be a public auction. Send all bids to me in electronic mail to hermit@bayview.com. I will try to set up a WWW interface to submit bids and check on the current highest bid, but for now stick to e-mail. I will post progress reports approximately every week to report the current bidding status. RULES OF THE AUCTION - SUGGESTED BID IS *NOT* A MINIMUM BID; I will accept the highest bid over that amount, or if all bids are below it, I *may* choose to accept the highest bid. If you think my prices are too high; bid anyway, and you might just get it after all. However there is a MINIMUM PURCHASE OF $10, just to make it worth my time to package and mail. - Bidding runs UNTIL ALL ITEMS ARE SOLD, OR AUGUST 1ST, 1996, whichever is soonest. I may elect to extend the bidding period, add or remove items available, and/or change suggested bids after that date. - YOU WILL PAY ALL SHIPPING COSTS. Shipping cost depends on method of shipment, weight of what you buy, and your location. If you live in or near the San Francisco or Monterey bay areas in California (I live in Santa Cruz), we may be able to meet in person to transfer the goods. Send me email if you have any questions about shipping. - Unless otherwise indicated, all equipment has been tested and is in GOOD WORKING ORDER. Exceptions to this are noted in parentheses. The 1571 and 1541's have all been aligned by me, but understand that shipping could misalign them, so check them when you receive them. If you don't know how, ask me. - Except for problems noted in parentheses below, all items have a THIRTY DAY WARRANTY. If anything does not work to your satisfaction for ANY REASON within 30 days of your receipt of the item(s), send it back to me for a FULL REFUND. *NOTE* Refunds will NOT be given on shipping costs in either direction! ############################## HARDWARE ################################ COMPUTERS SuggBid Qty Mfr Model Description ------- --- --- ----- ----------- $25.00 1 CBM 64 Commodore 64 w/ P/S (keyboard needs cleaning) $35.00 1 CBM 128 Commodore 128 w/ P/S (F3 & F5 missing) $40.00 1 CBM 128 Commodore 128 w/ P/S $15.00 1 CBM Plus/4 Commodore Plus/4 Computer in box, with manuals and P/S BID:$15.00Rich White (7/16/96 15:38 PDT) BID:$15.00Brian Seeley (7/16/96 16:01 PDT) BID:$10.00Tim Grooms (7/17/96 15:07 PDT) BID:$20.00Brian Seeley (7/24/96 16:52 PDT) $20.00 1 CBM 8032 80 col, 32k CBM/PET computer (E key missing) BID:$10.00Joseph Keane (7/16/96) FLOPPY DISK DRIVES SuggBid Qty Mfr Model Description ------- --- --- ----- ----------- $30.00 4 CBM 1541 Single Drive Floppy Disk 5.25" $40.00 1 CBM 1571 Double-sided 5.25" Floppy Disk Drive $20.00 1 FSD FSD-1 Mostly 1541-compatible disk drive $10.00 1 CBM 8040 Dual PET floppy disk drive, 512k each disk (one side broken) BID:$10.00Joseph Keane (7/16/96) $10.00 1 CBM 8240 Dual PET floppy disk drive, 1MB each disk (broken) $5.00 1 CBM IEEE-488 Cable, PET to drive BID:$5.00 Rich White (7/16/96 15:38 PDT) $3.00 1 CBM IEEE-488 Cable, drive to drive BID:$3.00 Rich White (7/16/96 15:38 PDT) $2.00 1 HP IEEE-488 Cable, drive to drive BID:$2.00 Rich White (7/16/96 15:38 PDT) PRINTERS SuggBid Qty Mfr Model Description ------- --- --- ----- ----------- $20.00 1 Oki 10 Okimate 10 thermal color printer with Black ribbon & Commodore "Plug 'N' Print" cartridge, in box $5.00 1 Oki 10 Okimate 10 thermal color printer, no ribbon or "Plug 'N' Print" cartridge $30.00 1 Seikosha SP180VC 9-pin Commodore-ready printer; good cond., nice NLQ mode $5.00 1 CBM MPS803 7-pin Commodore printer ######################### VIC-20 CARTRIDGES ############################ Commodore VIC-1xxx cartridges SuggBid Qty Model Name ------- --- ----- ---- $7.50 1 VIC-1211A Super Expander w/ 3K RAM $5.00 1 VIC-1212 Programmer's Aid Cartridge $2.50 1 VIC-1909 Road Race $2.50 1 VIC-1910 Radar Ratrace $2.50 1 VIC-1911 The Sky is Falling $2.50 1 VIC-1914 Adventure Land (Scott Adams) $2.50 1 VIC-1915 Pirate's Cove (Scott Adams) $2.50 1 VIC-1918 Voodoo Castle (Scott Adams) $2.50 1 VIC-1919 Sargon II Chess (w/ Manual) $2.50 1 VIC-1920 Pin Ball $2.50 1 VIC-1921 Super Smash $2.50 1 VIC-1922 Cosmic Cruncher $2.50 1 VIC-1923 Gorf $2.50 2 VIC-1924 Omega Race $2.50 1 VIC-1937 Sea Wolf $2.50 1 VIC-1938 Tooth Invaders $2.50 1 VIC-1941 Number Nabber / Shape Gobbler NOTE: I have the manual that covers all five Scott Adams games, but only three of the games. There doesn't seem to be any way of yoyo'ing them as I am unable to find a platform that is close enough on the same horizontal level as them. Also, when I travel back along the top of the platforms to where you begi= n the level and yoyo the last moster, after about 4 or 5 seconds, another monster shoots towards you from the right. After falling for this the first time, I was able to yoyo this monster too. Unfortunately though, those two monsters blocking the end of the level are still there.=20 Arrrrrggggghhh!!! Bear in mind this is all just off-the-cuff, and not tested in code, but I think it's a good way to approach it. Note that while I do flesh out some of what Dave Moorman says, I do a fair amount of hand-waving myself :)... Anyway all comments on this would be greatly appreciated. Have a memory structure containing words, parts of speech, and some kind of semantic pointer. The pointer could be an 8-bit offset, and each part of speech would have a different 'namespace'. Say 14 character limit on names, that gives 16 bytes for a record. PUT THE TOY AND THE DOLL IN THE BOX THEN BUG OUT "AND ",$00,$00 "BOX ",$01,$00 "BUG ",$02,$00 "DOLL ",$01,$01 "IN ",$03,$00 "OUT ",$04,$00 "PUT ",$02,$01 "THE ",$05,$00 "THEN ",$00,$01 "TOY ",$01,$02 Parts of speech used in the above: $00conjunction $01noun $02verb $03preposition $04adverb $05article You can basically drop all articles without worrying about it. David Moorman's description skips over some important parts, and it's those parts that I think demand that the parts of speech be stored. Namely how do you know that the conjunction applies to just the nouns 'TOY' and 'DOLL', and not to verb phrases (i.e. separate commands)? As you scan from left to right, you build up information abut the semantics of the command: verb noun conj noun prep noun conj verb advb PUT TOY AND DOLL IN BOX THEN BUG OUT What you want in this case, is for all commands to resolve into one or more sentences of the form "verb advb noun prep noun" where one or more of those words may be absent. Anyway, the first step is what I'll call "resolving the conjunctions" -- splitting things up at the "ands" and "thens". Conjunctions have many uses, any word or phrase can be (word and word) or (phrase and phrase) and the trick is finding what is meant. Some example forms you might encounter are: - verb noun conj noun prep noun - verb noun prep noun conj verb noun prep noun Note that we can take great advantage of the fact that we aren't trying to understand all of English; just one certain form (imperative sentences of the form given above). This makes it easier to define what we are reading. Any time you come across "verb advb noun1 conj noun2 prep noun3" you can convert it to "verb advb noun1 prep noun3" and "verb advb noun2 prep noun3" easily. That gives us "PUT ... TOY IN BOX" and "PUT ... DOLL IN BOX" (no adverb in this case; I write "..." to show where it would be) from "PUT TOY AND DOLL IN BOX" easily enough. That leaves "THEN BUG OUT" which is "conj verb advb" with no noun object or prepositional phrase. That converts to "BUG OUT ... ... ..." again with "..." filling in the missing words. The second phase is to actually carry out the instructions. For each of the resulting commands in our "canonical form" of "verb advb noun prep noun" we run the command instructed. Remember that second set of numbers for each word above? We have a subroutine to carry out each verb. The index to that subroutine is that number; "PUT" is $01. That routine is responsible for making sure its arguments (the rest of the sentence) make sense. For "PUT ... TOY IN BOX" we have $01 $FF $02 $00 $00 (using $FF to denote the absence of a word). Since the position of the word in the command implies its part of speech, it is OK that "IN" and "BOX" have the same number. The "PUT" routine gets $FF $02 $00 $00, looks up the data referenced by each of those numbers, and does the task. Anyway that's how I'd try it if I were to embark upon this project. --Bill. -- William R Ward Bay View Consulting http://www.bayview.com/~her= mit/ hermit@bayview.com 1803 Mission St. #339 voicemail +1 408/479-= 4072 hermit@cats.ucsc.edu Santa Cruz CA 95060 USA pager +1 408/458-= 8862 #! rnews 1586 Path: pravda.aa.msen.com!news1.best.com!news.sgi.com!uhog.mit.edu!news.ma= thworks.com!hunter.premier.net!netnews.worldnet.att.net!ix.netcom.com!new= s From: Guy Hilliard Newsgroups: comp.sys.cbm Subject: FS: C64C and Disk Drives Date: 26 Jul 1996 04:07:59 GMT Organization: Netcom Lines: 33 Message-ID: <4t9gav$38t@dfw-ixnews8.ix.netcom.com> NNTP-Posting-Host: sea-wa20-06.ix.netcom.com Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=3Dus-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-NETCOM-Date: Thu Jul 25 11:07:59 PM CDT 1996 X-Mailer: Mozilla 1.1PE (Windows; I; 16bit) To: liveguy@ix.netcom.com All of these items look and work like new, are barely used, and come in their original boxes/packaging with documentation.
