You can detect what type of CMD drive is attached to your system by executing an "M-R" as described in the manual for any of the devices. This is what each return= s: RAMLink - cmd rl RAMDrive - cmd rd HD - cmd hd FD - cmd fd There is no distinction between the FD-2000 or FD-4000. The user commands (ui, uj, etc.) cannot be effectively used to determine what type of drive is on the system when doing an autodetect sequence. Here's the problem: If a CMD HD is device 10 and device 8 is an unmodifi= ed 1541, and you have used the swap 8 function of the drive, the user comman= ds will lock up as soon as device 8 is accessed. My reasoning is that the user commands go for the hardwired devices as opposed to softwired. This is the info I need: The "M-R" locations for the 1541, 1571, 1581, ICT, Lt. Kernal and any other drives that can be connected to either a 64 or 128. I know the information exists, but don't know where. Part, if n= ot all, was published in an old issue of Compute!'s Gazette.
