The problem is that "C/C++" people want standard stuffs, and it's easy to understand them. I would like 16 ColdFire (68040-like, but RISC and very cheap) in paralle= l maybe on a single chip, and would love to write a multiprocessor version of my programming language, but what people want nowadays is standard solutions, also if they're _much worse_. IMHO the solution would be such a good machine that nobody cares anymore = if it's completely non-standard, and creates a standard itself. Unfortunately, this utility only works under Kickstart v36.xx which can hardly be found (most people use either KS v34 or v37, a few use v38-40). As far as I know, the actual drive _mechanism_ is the same one used in the Amiga so if one's broken, you can swap the drive mech between a 1581 and Amiga.
