Despite my earlier my better judgement, but because of the gentle proddin= g of my fellow Commodore loyalists, I've decided to return to comp.sys.cbm.= I need to clarify something. My first message in this thread was an angr= y retaliation toward those individuals that read the messages in the newsgroup but do not post publicly. These individuals (or one individual with multiple aliases, I don't know for sure), decided to bombard my mailbox with many messages containing profanity, abuse, and slander. I just went through all the messages in the thread. Not even the "Waaaahhhh!" from Bob Masse was irritating in the least way. For those o= f you who responded to his message, thanks for sticking up, but I did invit= e that flame by the manner of my post. I apologize to him and you. I'm sorry for making such an ass out of myself by letting the worst 10% of th= e readers get to me. Bob, something I wanted to mention about the dongle for CKit. Madman no longer sells CKit (as far as I can tell) since they turned distribution over to CMD. As you may know, or should know, CMD does not have a reputation for selling pieces of software packages. I'll post more about some observations about the license agreement in the other thread. I do want to quote something you said: >The difference is that the software you are trying to crack is still bei= ng supported by a programmer that >probably reads this newsgroup. Not some old worthless game that can be bought at any thrift store for >10 cents. My response to this is very simple and can best be summed up in an old cliche': A miss by an inch is the same as a miss by a mile. In this cas= e, the comparison is moot. The copyright on *ANY* program, commercial or otherwise, is 50 years beyond the death of the copyright holder. I guess what I'm trying to say is that whether it be a supported new program, or = an old 10 cent piece of junk, it is still illegal to copy or otherwise distribute the program in any media without permission of the copyright holder/author. I did use a poor choice of words and approach for what I was truly asking= , how to get around that stupid dongle. I *DID* receive some very informative and worthwhile replies, from what I consider to be some reall= y good people. In the future, I intend to go back and read what I posted (after taking a break from it for at least 10 minutes) to see what it is that I'm writing as opposed to what I mean. I never intended to ask anyo= ne to "crack" CKit itself. The program in itself is not worth that kind of trouble. Again, my apologies for being a public ass - although the original messag= e does apply to the 10% I mentioned. You of the 10% know exactly what I mean. #! rnews 990 Message-ID: <31F46915.4E3C@dclink.com> Date: Mon, 22 Jul 1996 22:54:29 -0700 From: Xkomunnik8 Organization: Black Wednesday Productions X-Mailer: Mozilla 2.01 (Win16; I) MIME-Version: 1.0 Newsgroups: comp.sys.cbm Subject: WTB: MIDI peripherals for Commodore 128 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=3Dus-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit NNTP-Posting-Host: www.dclink.com Lines: 14 Path: pravda.aa.msen.com!news1.best.com!nntp.primenet.com!news.mathworks.= com!newsfeed.internetmci.com!n5.gbso.net!
